Driffield
Championship Show – Cairn Terriers I would like to thank the Driffield
committee for inviting me to judge the Cairn Terriers 2023 and a big thank
you to all the people who entered and gave me the lovely opportunity to judge
their Cairns, which I enjoyed so much.
The ground and grass were not even today so making it more difficult
for handlers, but all did well. Best of Breed & BCC Percy’s, Winetta Frankly My Dear. DCC. Jones & Arnold’s Tycadno Tom

Jones & Arnold’s Thomas Tycadno Tom
Foolery. Lovely well balanced wheaten with correct jacket on this young boy.
Correct bite, stop, eye colour, correct ear placement with super strong male
head leading into correct length of neck on to well-placed shoulders, lovely
spring of rib, keeping his top line on the move and good angulation front and
rear. Standing well forward and moving around the ring with drive and in tune
with his handler DCC. SBD 0 PGD 0 LD (2) 1. Hiam’s
Carradine Arfa Pint JW. Another nice brindle male, 22 months, in
good coat texture and the correct mouth, muzzle and stop. Lovely head and eye
shape and enough neck with a good top line and good tail carriage, moved well
around the ring with drive, a lot to like about this boy, RDCC, just
preferred head of DCC today. 2. Purvis’ Mosspur
Time and Again. 4yr brindle with
typical Cairn head, good scissor bite and large teeth, good length of neck
and level topline. Moves well but
loses interest quickly just needs a bit more enthusiasm to complete the
picture. OD (3) 1.Petts’
CH Doonrae Sentinel. Dark brindle, masculine head with dark eye and good
correct stop, large teeth with good scissor bite, nice lay of shoulder and
level top line and tail set correct. Would have liked a little more fore
chest but I think will come with maturity, angulation was good and moved OK, just decided to play
handler up in the challenge. 2. Shannon & Storr & Midddlehurst’s Brenndarcy It’s Magic. Wheaten with dark
points, good bite and stop, correct ear placement. Good flow of neck into level topline, good fore chest and spring of rib, moved OK, just in need of more coat
to complete which will come with maturity. GCD (1) 1. Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Dark Charmer For Macmoon. Dark
brindle male with typical Cairn head and correct bite, has good stop and very
neat ears, everything in correct place with this veteran boy and moved OK
with his handler but just I thought a
little tired today in the warm weather so lost out to the veteran bitch on
movement, but a very nice veteran boy. VB (1) 1.Percy’s
CH Winetta I’ve Got a Feeling. Dark
brindle, very attractive girl. Very
feminine head with that cheeky Cairn expression, lovely length of neck into
correct lay of shoulder, top line and tail set all good,
and still moved with such drive around the ring. PB (2) 1. Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy
Witches Promise. Red bitch puppy, very appealing and feminine baby with
correct scissor bite and stop with lovely eye shape. Coat texture good and
good reach of neck and carrying her tail well on the move and nice angulation.
Enjoying her day, look forward to seeing her develop in the future. BPIB. 2. Wright’s Brenndarcy Spellbinding
for Glenmonte. Litter sister to 1, not as mature as
1 yet, even though same age but sure she will catch up. Good bite and dark
eye and good top line and moved ok but needs more confidence in the ring, I
hope will come with practice. JB (4, 1A) 1Goud’s Vale of Atholl’s
Snug in the Blanket. Lovely feminine wheaten young bitch. Caught my eye in this class, she has
correct bite and very good stop with ideal reach of neck into lovely lay of
shoulder and nice spring of rib, kept topline on the move. Correct tailset and very good angulation
fore and rear, coat coming in correct and strong, moving well with handler. One
to watch for the future. 2.Dennis
& Waites’ Svendalens Snow Drop.
Another clear wheaten girl with good bite, good stop, a little longer
in muzzle then 1 but still maturing. Topline level and tailset correct, nice
front movement but a little close behind today when moving
but moved well. 3. Parkin’s Svendalens Dancing
Queen. PGB (1) 1. Goud’s Breezy Kingussie
Molly Connell. Dark brindle girl with lovely expression and head. Correct in bite and stop, neat ears and
nicely bodied up, profuse coat and correct texture and showed OK. LB (3) 1. Percy’s Winetta Frankly My Dear,
a very attractive feminine wheaten bitch with super head with dark points. Loved everything about her but can be a
little naughty in ring but today was her day.
Correct bite and eye colour and shape, skull strong but feminine and
neat ears. Good reach of neck into
correct lay of shoulder and level top line into correct tailset, very good
angulation and good movement. Well balanced. In excellent harsh jacket, groomed
to perfection and handled well. BCC & BOB. 2. Soper’s
Elitecharm Showgirl. Grey brindle bitch, liked her
size and shape. Good bite and head shape,
medium length of neck into good shoulders and level topline, nice depth of
rib, moved OK with handler. 3. Inett, Harrison & Bateman’s
Carradine Precious Pumpkin Pie. OB (4) 1. Felters & Rumens’ Ch Birselaw
Caol IlA at Landbuck,
brindle bitch which I have watched with interest around the ring. A lot to like about the girl with profuse
coat and typical Cairn head with correct bite and good stop. Straight front
and held top line on the move and correct tail carriage, a very nice balanced
bitch but today was a little off her stride and not
her usual enthusiastic self but did enough for RBCC. 2. Inett & Harrison’s Carradine
Wilma. Brindle lady with super head and expression, correct bite and stop,
neat ears, in correct coat and lovely to go over, moved freely with handler,
just preferred rear movement of 1 today. 3.Lund’s Cairngold Brandy Snap by Jorvikairn 4. Jobling’s Ariom
Full of Sass. |
