Judge report from South Wales And West Of England Cairnterrier Club Breed Championship Show
at Forest Oak Farm, Lydney, Sunday 22nd october 2023

Cairnterrier: It was a great honour for me to be invited to judge in UK again. The show was held at Forest Oak Farm in Lydney and that was an excellent place for a breed club show with a huge ring and plenty of space. I had a lovely entry of 80 cairns. I found overall a very good coat quality, lovely heads, good bites and excellent temperaments. Unfortunately there were several lacking in body and movements. Some was well up to size.
My winners was of a good size, very well presented and moved very well.

VD (5 1) 1 Vlieghe Marie´s Magic Pocketful Of Dutch Gold Lovely bitch of excellent type. Lovely head and expression. Good proportions. Well angulated. Excellent tailset. Excellent coat and shows well.
2 Dolans Ch Glenrood Scheherazade Excellent type and proportions. Nice head and expression. Could have a deeper chest. Enough angulated. Good side movements.

PD (1 0) 1 McIntyre Macantsaoir Celtic Warrior Puppy Well up to size. Nice head and expression. Good proportions. Straight shoulders. Well angulated behind. Needs to improve in front. A bit out of coat.

JD (2 1) 1 Inett, Harrison & Bateman Caradine Ayre Friar Well developed with good proportions. A bit narrow in foreface but lovely expression. Excellent neck and shoulder. A bit low in tailset. Good body, bone and feet. Moves very well. Harsch coat. Shows well.

YD (3 1) 1 Vlieghe Tycadno Full Of Tricks Lively dog with good proportions. Nice head and expression. Could have a darker eye. Excellent neck. Good angulations. Well carried tail. Nice body and excellent coat. 2 Jones & Arnold Tycadno Tom Foolery, Lovely head. Dark eyes. Excellent neck and topline. Good tailset. Good body. Lacking in angulation. Wide in front and could have move with more drive.

ND (2 0) 1 Thomas Tycadno Magic Man Excellent size and proportions. The best of heads with small ears. Lovely neck and topline. A bit low in tailset. Well angulated. Good body. A bit loose in front. Moves with drive. Good coat quality. 2 Thomas & Jones Tycadno New Tricks Well up to size. A bit long and weak in topline. Excellent head and expression. Nice neck. Short in upper arm. Good tailset. Enough body. Well angulated behind. Needs to improve in movement. Harsh but open in coat.

PGD (3 0) 1 Bingham Carradine Bumbling Boris Good size and proportions. Nice head and expression. Enough neck. Good tailset. Lacking in body. Straight in upper arm. Well angulated behind. Wide in front. Excellent coat. 2 Inett & Harrison Carradine Apple Jack Good size and proportions. Lovely head and expression. A bit large ears. Enough neck. A bit upright in shoulder. Slooping croup. Lacking in drive and wide in front. Excellent coat and temperament.

OD (12 1) 1 Hiam Ch Carradine Arfa Pint JW Excellent type and size. Lovely head and expression. Small, well carried ears and dark eyes. Good neck, topline and tailset. Excellent body. Well angulated. Moves with drive and correct coming and going. Excellent coat and condition. CC and BIS. 2 Shannon, Storr & Middlehurs Brenndarcy It´s Magic AI, Good size and proportions. A bit narrow in foreface. Good eyes and ears. Nice neck. Good tailset. Enough angulated. Moves with enough drive. Needs to improve in front. Excellent coat. Res CC.

MPB (4 1) 1 Shaw Tycadno Star Attraction At Honeyhall Excellent in type and size. Excellent bone and feet. Lovely head and expression. Well carried ears. Nice neck, topline and tailset. Excellent body. Well angulated. Moves with drive. Promising coat. BPIS. 2 Vlieghe Marie´s Magic Well-Dressed In Red Good size. Excellent proportions. Good bone. Still a bit narrow in head. Good neck. A bit low in tailset. Well angulated. Moves close coming and going. Good coat.

PB (4 1) 1 Vlieghe Marie´s Magic Well-Dressed In Red (Second in MPB) 2 Saich Lindcoly My Own Little Thing, Six month very well put together. Needs to develope in head. Well angulated. Good side movements. Still a bit loose in front. Unfortunately low in tailset and tail carriage. Promising coat.

JB (4 1) 1 Ballinger Cloverbrook Forget Me Not A bit long in body. A bit narrow in foreface. Nice body, well angulated. Moves with drive. A bit cloose behind. Nice coat. 2 Inett & Harrison Carradine Picadd Lilly Compact bitch. Nice skull but a bit narrow in foreface. Upright in shoulder but good upper arm. Well angulated behind. Cloose behind and should have more drive. Excellent coat. Shows well.

YB (6 1) 1 Saich Lindcoly Picture Perfect Excellent type and size. Well developed in body. Nice ears and expression. Good neck. Well angulated. Excellent tailset. Mowes well. Excellent coat. 2 Munday Furythor Marvel At Me Seems to be a little bit heavy but well constructed. Excellent head. Well angulated. Free movements. Good coat.

NB (6 2) 1 Parker-Tucker Birselaw Floral Dancer Of Uniquecottage Elegant bitch. Needs to develop in body. Narrow in foreface. Lovely expression. Excellent topline and tailset. Well angulated. Still loose in front and a bit narrow behind. Promising coat but not in best show condition today. 2 Smith Cloverbrook Shining Star Over Gethlee A bit up to size. Long in foreface. Large ears. Enough body. Sloping croup and low tailset. Should move with more drive. Good coat.

PGB (7 0) 1 Waugh Dazzle Me At Tribannon Excellent size and proportions. Good bone. A nice head but a bit narrow in foreface. Excellent topline and tailset. Needs a deeper chest. Well angulated. Moves well. 2 Parker-Tucker Sandrio Zinnia Of Uniquecottage Nice in type and size. Needs to improve in body. Narrow behind and loose in front. Enough angulation. Moves with enough drive. Good coat. Needs time.

LB (7 1) 1 Hooton & Hughes Penticharm It´s My Party Well balanced bitch of correct size. Lovely head and expression. Good neck, topline and tailset. Excellent body. Very good bone and feet. Moves correct. Excellent coat and presentation. Shows well. CC,
Res BIS and BOS. 2 Metcalf-Sault Cannwood Quiet Reflections Well constructed but a bit on the heavier side .A bit long in foreface. Good ears. Enough neck. Excellent tailset. Nice body and angulations. Moves well.

OB (8 2) 1 Firth Ch Cairngold Chiquitita Excellent type and size. Lovely proportions. Beautiful head and expression. Good bone and feet. Well angulated. Could move with a bit more drive. Excellent coat and presentation. Res CC. 2 Inett, Harrison & Bateman Carradine Precious Pumpkin Pie Nice type and size. A bit round in eyes. Otherwise a nice head. Enough neck and steep in shoulder. A bit deep in chest. Well angulated. Good tailset. Excellent coat. Moves well behind. A bit loose in front.

SBB (3 0) 1 Metcalf-Sault Cannwood Quiet Reflections (second in LB) 2 Thomas & Jones Tycadno Dark Star Nice type and size. A bit narrow in foreface. Otherwise a nice head. A bit upright in shoulder. Sloping croup. Good body. Should move with more drive. Excellent coat.
