WELKS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 27th April 2023.

CAIRN TERRIERS

Thank you to the Committee of WELKS for asking me to judge at their show, and very grateful thanks to the exhibitors who came out to support me on my first occasion of awarding CCs. The entry was strong and some decisions were very close and could have gone the other way on another day. This was particularly true of DCC and RDCC – both beautiful dogs with a great future ahead.

VETERAN DOG ( 1 )

1.  Inett, Harrison and Batman’s Ch George Flies With Harkenleigh JW

Beautiful 9 year old dog obviously happy to be in the ring. Lovely  head, prominent stop, strong correct bite. Front and hindquarters strong. Lovely level back and correct tail set. Very much in tune with his handler.

JUNIOR DOG ( 4, 2A )

1.  Clarke”s Furythor Mr Bojangles By Lentrica

Young grey brindle dog just out of Puppy. Showed well but a little jumpy on the move until he settled, but he’s still young. Lovely  head, clear stop, strong hind and forequarters, level back, correct tail set. Well balanced dog. Very promising.

2.  Yates-Johnston’s Pendley Seafarer. Beautiful  13 month old dog. Lovely head good mouth, excellent coat. Showed and moved well. Just preferred the overall balance of 1.

YEARLING DOG (1)

1Jones and Arnold’s Tycadno Tom Foolery . One year old dog in lovely coat. Beautiful head with striking dark eyes. Mouth good. Strong front, level back, good hindquarters with correct tail set.  A little unsettled on the move but he is still very young. He has a lot of potential.

POST GRADUATE DOG (1)

1.  Waugh’s Glenrood Galaxy at Tribannon 19 month old dark  brindle dog, up to size good stop. but balanced. Lovely, typical head, well placed ears, attractive expression. Correct front, level strong top line. Unsettled on the move which made his movement difficult to assess.

LIMIT DOG (4,4)

1.  Petts’ Doonrae Sentinel. There was much I liked about this 2 yr old  boy – his profile, .his showmanship, his rapport with his handler. Lovely head, correct bite, strong teeth, strong fore-and hind quarters, level back. He moved and showed well.  DCC

2.  Byrne’s Carradine Howzat Howard. 3 yr old dog of similar type to !. Typy head with pronounced stop and correct bite. Good harsh double coat, Strong fore and hind quarters. Showed and moved well. Presented a nicely balanced picture.

1.  Ballinger’s Cloverbrook Forget Me Not !0 month old with a pleasing head and typical ‘Cairny” expression. Profuse, if slightly soft. Nicely balanced girl with good shoulders and forequarters but slightly close behind Movement good Showed well. (BP)

2.  Smith’s Cloverbrook Shining Star Over Gethlee Litter sister to ! Lovely profuse coat, again a little soft. Pleasing head, good front.
