Joint Cairn Terrier Clubs Open Show 17/7/2011
I would like to just thank the committee for inviting me and all the exhibitors for bringing their lovely Cairns for me to judge. I had a wonderful day!
Veteran Dog 2 (1 abs)
1st Keeves & Bennett’s Vanajam Amulet with Maxiveek
Grey brindle, good head, with nice stop and ear placement, at 11 years still has a keen expression well constructed dog though his coat not at its best today, he showed very well and enjoyed his day.
Minor Puppy Dog – 2
1st Roberts’ Cannwood Cut Above (Best Dog Puppy & BPIS)
Wheaten dog with dark points to muzzle and ears, correctly set ears, good stop, large teeth, correct bite. Good length of neck flowing into shoulders, a good sized dog, correct tail set, and well let down hocks, this dog moved so well both ways, with good width behind reaching forward in front, got a little giddy at times but he has lots of time to settle. A very promising dog puppy.
2nd Currie’s Stirlingview Stunner
Red Brindle puppy, good stop and large teeth, just short of head furnishings at present but they will come. Double coat of correct texture. Slightly longer in loin than 1st but still a well balanced puppy, he needs to grow on and he has plenty of time. Confident puppy on his first outing, moved and showed well for his owner.
Puppy Dog – 3
1st Newton’s Strathinver Specification
Wheaten dog with dark points, masculine head, good ear set, large teeth, correct stop, coat of correct texture just coming in, moved well both ways, his owner just needs to show him on a loose lead.
2nd Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There and Back Again
Red brindle dog, masculine head, with good stop and large teeth, well balanced dog puppy who moved well both ways, correct tail set, in profuse coat of good texture, promising puppy, would benefit from losing a bit of weight.
3rd Carter’s Carradine Alfie the Great at Carernwill
Junior Dog – 3
1st Peers Tweedisle Sea Scout
Wheaten brindle dog, nicely balanced, large teeth, good ear set, just a bit short of furnishings at present. Moved with drive from the rear and reached out in front, moving & showing well.
2nd Keeves & Bennetts’ Seveek who Dares Wins
Copper Brindle with gorgeous masculine head, good ear placement and large teeth, good stop, up to size and wouldn’t want him any bigger but never the less a balanced dog. In good coat of correct texture, moved with drive from behind but needs to settle in front movement. Showed very well.
3rd Mears’ Glenmear Bret Maverick
Graduate Dog – 3
1st Inett & Heidecker’s Reg the Rocket
Wheaten dog, attractive head, good ear placement, large teeth, excellent double coat of correct texture, kept top line on move, showed with animation, reachingl forward in front, well set on tail.

Post Grad Dog – 6 (1 abs)
1st Confue’s Anjofra I’m Not Going JW
Dark Brindle dog, very good stop, nice ear placement, large teeth, another one with the typical keen expression. Good length of neck into correct shoulders, very good double coat, good top line, well set on tail. Flowed round the ring, eye-catching dog, showed and moved very well.
2nd Brennan’s Milindack What News Watson
Another good masculine headed dog, large teeth, good stop and well placed ears, good length of neck, level topline, harsh double coat, moved well, this dog never stopped showing, I have judged this dog before and he has matured nicely, a close decision.
3rd Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable
Limit Dog – 2 (1 abs)
1st Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Codebreaker (Best Dog)
Although this dog was stood alone in the class he owned the ring. Grey Brindle, gorgeous masculine head, every bit male, good stop, large teeth, in good double coat, well set on tail, level top line, good spring of rib. Exuberant showman, he moved very well when settled & I couldn’t deny him Best Dog.

1st Inett & Bambridge’s Crackaway Jack (Res Best Dog)
Red Brindle Dog, real masculine head, with dark mask, good ear set and large teeth, nice stop. Correct length of neck flowing in shoulders, level top line, shown in good hard condition, very workmanlike as a Cairn should be. This dog really strides out, he pushed hard for Best Dog.
2nd Smith’s Ch Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle
Another very masculine dog, dark grey Brindle with dark mask, nice neat ears, good stop and large teeth, good tail set, level top line, excellent coat of correct texture, he moved and showed very well, unlucky to meet 1 on top form today.

Veteran Bitch
1st Ball’s Tweslam Izzy Wizzy Get Bizzy
Red bitch, gorgeous feminine head, correct ear placement, good stop, large teeth, hard to believe this bitch is nearly 8 years old, she wouldn’t look out of place in a younger class. An excellent double coat of correct texture, good tail set, level topline, moved & showed well
Minor Puppy Bitch – 6 (1 abs)
1st Currie’s Stirlingview Silhouette
Nicely balanced red brindle bitch, feminine version of 2nd in MPD as I see this is his litter sister, large teeth, good stop, excellent coat, good bone, well set on tail, showed a dream for such a baby, just 6 months old.
2nd Miller’s Cornton Diabaig
Dark brindle with gorgeous head, neat ears, good stop and large teeth, another baby of just 6 months, double coat, correct texture. Correct tail set, she never stopped showing, on smaller lines than 1st but balanced throughout. A very close decision.

Wheaten with lovely dark points to muzzle and ears, lovely feminine head, large teeth, good stop, good length of neck, level top line, good tailset, she moved and showed very well, coat of correct texture, just in need of a trim to complete the picture. Promising bitch.
2nd Newton’s Strathinver Storyline
Wheaten brindle, very pretty bitch, on similar lines to first, not surprising as I see they are litter sisters, neat ears, good stop and large teeth, good length of neck, correct texture coat but needs more of it, which is just coming through, showed her socks off, moved ok.

1st Smith’s Glenmear Sproxton Lass
Grey Brindle bitch, good head, well set ears, large teeth, nice length of neck, level top line, double coat, correct texture, good tail set, this bitch is a workmanlike Cairn, she looks keen like she is ready for work, which I like to see.
