MIDLAND CAIRN TERRIER CLUB 1. 8. 09

Sincere thanks to the Committee of the Midland Cairn Terrier Club for giving me the great pleasure of judging their August show.  I would also like to thank my Stewards for their efficiency and the Exhibitors for such a good entry.  Many of the dogs were excellent indeed, but the overall quality was somewhat uneven and with much greater strength in the bitches.  I was pleased to find that mouths have improved.  Most bites were acceptable with the correct number of incisors and also most premolars present.  I think this is important in a Terrier in view of its original function.  Front assemblies were however not always so good. There were quite a few rather upright shoulders and also some short upper arms and lack of forechest.

VD/B  (3)  1  Jennings’ Doonrae Virtuoso.  Lovely to see this 13 years old boy in such super condition.  He has neat ears plus eyes with good expression and is well angulated for and aft. Shown in good quality jacket and really enjoyed showing himself off. 2  Waites’ Seveek Country Rambler of Svendalens.  Dark brindle with very masculine head.  Rather sturdy but with good chest and tail set.  Showed very well and in tune with his owner.  3  Jennings’ Youthfulness.

NMSD/B  (2)  1  Kinchin’s Tyreeces Tricks.  Copper brindle masculine dog.  Good mouth with big teeth; dark eyes.  Well ribbed with good rear angulation and tail set.  Good coat and moved well.  2  Pears’ Copseleaze Miss Bagpipes.  Compact wheaten brindle with feminine head and dark eyes.  Good coat quality and nice dark points.

MPD  (3)  1  Percy’s Winetta New Kid in Town. Very promising baby in red quality jacket and dark points.  Well placed ears, good stop and mouth with big, strong teeth.  Good angulation fore and aft.  Well bodied with good topline and tail carriage. Strong feet and well let down hocks.  Moved and showed very well. BPD.  2  Brennan’s Milindack Whats News Watson.  Pale wheaten in good coat.  Dark eyes and bite with big teeth.  Decent rib and good tail set but not so positive on the move.  3  Peers’ Tweedisle Whisky Mack.

PD  (3;2)  1  Shannon’s Brenndarcy Trouble at Mill.  Another promising puppy but failed to take things seriously today, so movement was difficult to assess.  Well made head with dark eyes and good expression.  Nice outline with good reach of neck, good ribs and strong loin.

JD  (5;2)  1  Firth & Jones’  Cairngold Spin of The Wheel.  Very well balanced wheaten youngster.  Dark points to well carried, neat ears and dark eyes with varminty expression.  Good front and lovely neck and shoulder.  Well sprung ribs, strong loin and correct tail. Desired bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved out soundly with drive.  Well presented in quality coat.  2  Warne’s Spirebrooke  Dawn Raider.  Grey brindle with nice dark points, attractive head and good expression.  Well bodied and with good harsh coat quality.  Nice outline and showed well standing but did not drive on the move.  3  Tyreeces Tricks.
