The Midland Cairn Terrier Club Open Show  21/7/19

 

Thank you to the Midland Cairn Terrier Club for inviting me to judge their Open Show, and for their kind and generous hospitality.  I thoroughly enjoyed my morning. There were many quality dogs there, which led to some difficult and close decisions! In some classes I would like to have been able to award a joint first place! Thank you to all who took the trouble to enter their dogs under me.

 

Veteran Dog or Bitch 1 ( 6 entries, 0 absentees)

1. Pett’s Ch Doonrae Lexicon of Love

Lovely dark brindle seven year old bitch with a beautiful head and true cairn expression. Level topline, excellent tail set, good harsh double coat, Well presented. Moved with drive and enthusiasm. BV

2. Culliford’s Brenndarcy Maid In Heaven

 Nine year old bitch who certainly did not look her age! Lovely head, good stop, level back, well balanced.  Showed and moved well but less ‘showy’ than 1.

 

Special Beginners Dog (1 entry )

1. Dennis’s Svendalens Into Mischief

Four year old wheaten dog with a pleasing head, good stop, level back and good tail set. Excellent double coat. I would like to have seen slightly more neck. Moved and showed well.

Beautiful eleven month old dog with a promising future. Showy and mature with a beautiful head and  true cairn expression. Good mouth with strong teeth and correct bite. Level back. Showed  confidently with good rapport with his handler. BP

2.Williams’ Glenchess High Fidelity for Saracen.

Ten month old dark brindle dog. Less mature than 1.  Good head and stop, level back  and good tail set.  Shown in shorter coat of correct texture. Moved well

 

Junior Dog ( 2 entries, 0 absentees )

1.Waugh’s  Ch Tribannon Karamak 

Beautiful wheaten dog, almost 18 months. Lovely, mature, well-balanced dog. Great head and expression. Very good mouth and correct dentition. Strong forechest, well sprung ribs,  level back, good hindquarters. Coat slightly ‘on the blow’ Showy.  Moved well. Considered for RBD

2.Petts’ Doonrae Quiet Storm. 

Another lovely dog. just over a year old. Beautiful head, true cairn expression, good mouth, strong teeth, correct bite.  Good neck, well placed shoulders, level back and correct tail set. Good strong hindquarters, Less mature than 1 – unfortunate to meet  him today.  One to watch as he matures.

1.Keeves’ Treasure The Dream 

Showy wheaten brindle whose cheeky  expression and joyful attitude was appealing. Lovely head and expression, good mouth. Nice neck leading to level back and good tail set. Strong fore-and hind-quarters. Excellent coat of correct texture. .Moved well and exuded confidence. BD, RBIS, BOS

2. Shannon and Storr’s Brenndarcy Baldrick

Not as showy than 1 and moved less fluidly. Lovely head and typical expression. Good front, level topline . Harsh double coat. Well presented.

Beautifully presented and showy red dog in lovely coat.  Beautiful head, correct mouth and strong teeth. Strong forequarters and good depth of chest. Level back and good tail set. Responded well to handler. RBD

2.Parkin’s Carradine My Mate Matthew

6 yr old dog. Good head and stop, level back.  Balanced.  Shown in good coat. Did not move as well as 1 but responded well to handler.

1.Ball’s Lentrica Let’s Dance at Calamondin

Beautiful head and expression.  Correct mouth with strong teeth and correct bite,  Excellent double coat. Level back.  Excellent fore-and hind-quarters. Up to size.  Moved very well.

1.Metcalf-Sault’s  Cannwood Call Me Aggie

Lovely head and typical  ‘cheeky’ expression. Nicely balanced.  Level back, nice front, good tail set. Correct double coat. Moved well. Very responsive to handler.

2.Purvis’ Svendalens Memoir Cherie.

8 yr old bitch. Lovely head, good forechest, level back.  Shown in correct double coat. Moved well but less showy than 1 but close decision.

Pretty seven month old baby, beautiful head and expression, nice mouth with correct dentition, level back, good tail set.  Moved well – showed real rapport with handler.  BOS Puppy

Beautiful, eye-catching wheaten bitch with a beautiful head and expression, excellent coat, level back. Nicely balanced and presents a lovely outline. Moved with drive. BB, BIS

Lovely head and expression, good coat, nice front, level back. Good tail set and strong hindquarters. Moved well but not as balanced or as showy as 1

1.Purvis’Mosspur Time After Time

Three year old bitch. Pleasing head and expression, correct mouth and dentition, shown in good coat. I would have liked more length of neck. Moved Ok. Not showing her best today.

 

Post Graduate Bitch ( 2 entries, 0 absentees )

1.Lund’s Cairngold Brandy Snap

2 year old red bitch with a beautiful head and expression, correct front, level back and good tail set. Shown in excellent coat.  She looked happy  and she moved with drive. Showy

2.Metcalf- Sault’s  Cannwood Call Me Aggie

( See Special Beginners Bitch ) Close decision but preferred the showiness of  1 today.

3 yr old red brindle bitch  Beautiful head and expression with correct mouth and dentition, Correct fore and hind quarters, level back, good tail set. Balanced and well presented in good coat. Moved with drive .  Showy and confident.

3 yr old dark brindle bitch, very feminine, beautifully balanced. Lovely head and expression, beautiful front, level back, good tail set.  Shown in good coat. Moved and showed with confidence. Well presented. RBB

2.Soper’s Elitecharm Five Of Diamonds.

Cream 3 yr old bitch in lovely coat. Very good head and expression, correct mouth and dentition, Good fore and hindquarters, Balanced, moved with drive.  Close decision between 1 and 2 but felt 1 was more feminine.
