17TH MARCH 2018 at Shirland Village Hall

I would like to thank the Midland Cairn Terrier Club for affording me the privilege of judging their members limited show. I must also thank the exhibitors who took my placings with grace and good humour and of course thank you to my hard working stewards. A small entry marred by absentees for which the snow might have been the reason.  I was very pleased with my main winners.

Class 1 VETERAN Dog or Bitch - 5 (1 Abs)

Lovely class of veterans all of whom strutted their stuff and enjoyed their day out. They were a credit to their owners

1ST Parkin’s ROACHDEE MYSTERY OF THE FULL MOON – dog, well-constructed with a nice masculine head, good mouth,

2nd – Shannon & Storry’s BRENDARCY SNEDRONNINGEN  JW  lovely bitch, moved very well could show the youngsters a thing or two, coat not at its best today,  well made, lovely head with good stop.

1st – Davies’ CLOVERBROOK HARRIS TWEED - 4th in hot veteran class, well made strong dog who moved well,   9 years young.

1st – Firth’s CAIRNGOLD CHICO - 9 months red, lovely head with good mouth and stop, lovely neat ears, well made body with no exaggerations just soundly made with good feet. Moved steadily. Extremely promising should have a bright future. RBD, BPIS BPD

Class 4 PUPPY DOG - 1 Abs

Class 5 JUNIOR DOG – 2 (1 As)

1st Peers’ TWEEDISLE LIVELY LAD  - Lovely specimen, excellent coat, presented very well, good head and mouth, lovely neck into clean shoulders,  level topline, correctly set tail, good free mover with drive.

Class 6 NOVICE DOG - 0

Class 8 LIMIT DOG – 5 (3 Abs)

1st – Carter’s LENTRICA ROCKET MAN AT CARERNWIL - Well balanced throughout, very pleasing head, has a gorgeous flow of neck in equally good shoulders. Level topline with correct tail set. Coat of correct texture and well presented.  He let himself down by playing up on the move.

2nd - Peers’ TWEEDISLE TUGMAN - well constructed and angulated, level topline, well set tail with good coat and nice head.

Class 9 - OPEN DOG - 0

Best Dog – loved his balance and free flowing movement, excellent coat.  RBD and BPD won on his glorious head which went with his lovely make, shape and coat.

Three nice bitches 2nd and 3rd were both puppies giving away a lot in maturity.

1st   Purvis’ MOSSPUR TIME AFTER TIME Well made with good bone, correctly angulated fore and aft,  excellent coat, nice head and good tail set, steady mover. Wish she would be more animated.

2nd Metcalf Sault’s CANNWOOD CALL ME AGGIE - very pretty puppy with good coat, nice balance and movement, promising.

Class 11 - MINOR PUPPY BITCH – 1

1st Lund’s CAIRNGOLD BRANDY SNAP - 3rd in special beginners giving away a lot in maturity. Red coat of good texture, well balanced, nicely made, well presented with cheeky expression. Moved out steadily when settled.

Class 12 - PUPPY BITCH – 3 (2 Abs)

1st - Metcalf Sault’s CANNWOOD CALL ME AGGIE 2nd in Special Beginners BPB

Class 13 – JUNIOR BITCH – 1 ( 1Abs)

Class 14 – NOVICE BITCH – 3 (1 Abs)

1st Purvis’ MOSSPUR TIME AFTER TIME – 1st in Special Beginners Bitch.

2nd Soper’s ELITECHARM DIAMOND GIRL – Nice head with good mouth. Coat of correct texture. Unsettled today.

Class15 - POST GRADUATE BITCH -5 (1 Abs) Class of the day topped by two quality bitches who could change places on another day. 3rd was unlucky to run into these two today.

1st – Soper’s ELITECHARM FIVE OF DIAMONDS – Quality bitch with a feminine head and excellent coat. Loved her balance and construction. Showed her socks off. Pleased to award her BB and BIS

2nd – Firth’s CAIRNGOLD CAROLINA – Another quality bitch who was unlucky to run into 1st today. Red with excellent confirmation, loved her head and coat. Shown and presented well.

Class 16  - LIMIT BITCH – 1

1st Felters and Rumens’ LENTRICA FAME AT LANDBUCK  - Lovely quality brindle bitch of excellent make and shape. Good head, eye, mouth, stop and ears. Well made body with good angulations. Good coat of correct texture. Moved ok.  RBB and RBIS

Class 17 OPEN BITCH – 1 (1 Abs)

Best Bitch and Reserve Best Bitch was a close decision with both bitches having excellent qualities, the old cliché of they could change places on another day most certainly applies in their case.
