Midland Cairn Day 2005

The Club Cairn Day was held at Shirland Village Hall on Sunday 25th September.  The day started off with groomers, Alison Wragg, Maud Hawkes. Brian Mears and Monica Ball showing how to trim for show and pet.

After lunch, Jenny Fairweather and her helpers from the Fairweather Agility Club showed us all how agility should be done.  Unfortunately we did not have “Fairweather” and  the event had to be staged inside.  Many Cairns had a go, including Dawn Inett’s “Flic Flac” who showed that he was not only a show dog but an agility dog too!  Jenny advised that dogs should not use some of the apparatus until they are one year old but there is nothing to stop puppies four months and older having a try out jumping some of the lower poles.

The Junior Handling competition was well supported, eight youngsters showed us how it should be done and the winner was Tanya Buttery with Misty.  The judge was Monica Ball and the steward Pam Bambridge.  They awarded special prizes to all the entrants.

Alison Wragg then took the floor to look at the twelve puppies under six months,  The baby puppy the judge would most like to take home was the puppy dog, Daz owned and bred by Brenda Shannon and Danny Storr.

Best Puppy in Match was Chris & Phil Roberts’ “Millie”, Best Adult and Best in Match was Julie & Chris Petts’ Cannwood Kasta Spell at Doonrae and Best Loser was Jennie Fairweather’s Ross.
