Coat King Warning from Ann Wall

I received the following email today from Ann Wall.

“Thought you should put a warning about the Coat King rakes, and similar, on

the website. The ones with the curled teeth, that thin the coat.

I was using mine on Gus this afternoon, in the correct manner, did her back

O.K. and went on to the neck, as I have done many times before, did a few

strokes each time making sure the skin was taught, the next time I found a 4

inch gash, she hadn't felt anything nor had I. Talk about panic!!!!

I took her straight to the vet and when she looked she said one milimetre deeper it would have severed the jugular vein. I just couldn't bear to think about it.

The vet said it must have just caught in a fold of skin and being so sharp

had just slashed it.

Anyway we have just been to pick her up as they had to give her an

anesthetic to stitch her. She is still a bit sleepy but O.K.

Knowing how many Cairn people have these rakes I thought a warning to be

extra careful would be a good idea, mine is going back to the manufacturer

with a letter.”
