Alice Henderson Dies

Alice Henderson (Twinlaw) died 8 September aged 91 years. She will be cremated at Cowpen Crematorium, Blyth, on Tuesday 14 September, at 1.30 pm. Family flowers only, by request.

Alice began her love affair with the Cairn when she and her husband lived in Scotland after the war and she got a 'local' Cairn as a pet.

'

Her first show Cairn was Felshott Araminta, her beloved 'Minty', born 1962. I remember travelling to  training classes with our first Cairn, Kim,and Alice and Minty, on a train then a lengthy walk to the hotel where the class was held (not many cars in those days.) Minty did a lot of winning locally and got one CC but her value was as a foundationon bitch. She produced in one litter Ch Redletter Twinlaw Seaspirit, who went on to win  17 CC's, and a BIS at an all breeds Ch Show  in UK (only the second Cairn to do so), and Ch Twinlaw Blithe Spirit. Seaspirit eventually went to Canada, where he made his mark there .Alice went on to breed several champions  and other CC winners.

After the death of her husband in 1974 she moved to Redletter Kennels for a few years then returned to Blyth in 1986.

She served as a committee member with the CTA for many years and was President then Hon Life President till her death. She was also an Hon Life Member of SWWECTC.

She made many friends both here and overseas and was  a Ch Show judge in UK and judged in America and in Europe.

She was a regular churchgoer and was happy and independent in her own home until the end.

We send our sincere condolences to her surviving son and to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and to the rest of her family.
