The Doonrae Award

The MCTC has approved the following "competition" as devised by Milly & Alf Jennings and I should be grateful if you would put a mention of it in your column.

"The aim is to encourage exhibitors in the UK to enter the Cairn classes at K C Licensed Open and Limited Shows only, whether or not the judge is on the Clubs Lists or not.  The award will be given annually with a total of points for 12 calendar months of showing.  It is confined to owners and Cairns who have not won a CC, Res CC or equivalent awards in the breed.  The winning of such awards will mean elimination from the scheme.

The points system is as follows; 4 for 1st place, 3 for 2nd place, 2 for 3rd place and 1 for reserve.  No extra points for BOB, Best Puppy etc.  Points will still be awarded if only the one Cairn is in the class, the effort to enter and attend should be recognised.

At the end of 12 months, a sum of £15 for the owner with the most points, £10 to the runner up and £5 for the owner is 3rd place, with a suitable certificate presented to the top winner, will be provided by Alf & Milly Jennings.  If there is a tie, the money to be divided as appropriate.  Photocopies of the relevant marked catalogue should accompany each claim which should be sent to Alf and Milly at 201 Haigh Moor Road, West Ardsley, Wakefield, WF3 1EN.

The competition will start on 1 August 2003 and run for 12 calendar months."

The MCTC committee wish to thank Milly and Alf for the time and trouble they have taken and hope that this will encourage more entries at Open and Limited shows.
