Joint Cairn Terrier Open Show 22nd June 2003

I would like to thank the committee and exhibitors for a wonderful day.  The atmosphere at this show was wonderful.  The day was extremely warm and this took its toll on some of the dogs.  I found movement is something we will have to aim to improve on: some moved close behind and others loose in front.   Temperament was superb; it is something we seem to take for granted and do not give our breed enough credit for.  I found the quality in bitch classes to be really good and in the line up for best bitch it was a very close decision; there were a few I could have willingly taken home.

Veteran Dog or Bitch (1)

1.Parker Tucker,s Ch & Am Ch Uniquecottage Bright Gold  Nearly nine but still knows how to show off.   Beautiful head, good reach of neck into good shoulder placement, level topline which he held on the move. While he was in need of a new coat it did not take from his overall appearance.  A worthy champion.

2 Minor Puppy (5,1)

1.Fairweather,s Ock Ross I’m The Boss  R/b 6 months old enjoying his day out. He certainly thought he was the boss and gave his handler some trouble on the table, but done with that true cairn devilment.  Super head full of that mischievous expression, good neck, level topline in good coat, good bend of stifle .  Held his topline on the move and moved all out to win this class

2.Harrison & Formosa’s Carradine Master Guy W/B 6 months old Another with a super head, good neck, topline and tailset.  Beginning to lose his coat which took from his outline. Smaller than 1 and lost out to 1 on movement but this should settle with maturity.

3.Tutching’s Crowneast Mr Frosty

Puppy Dog (2,2)

Junior Dog (6,2)

1.Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Rusty Leaf.  Cream, lovely shape and make.  Good head, nice reach of neck, good shoulder placement, topline and tailset.  Good bend of stifle. Made his handler work hard to settle him on the table but settled on the move and showed well.

2.Weedall’s Clairevona Venetian Mask R/B Nice head with a good stop.  Good neck into level topline, good tailset and in good coat; just needs to body up to settle him on the move.

3.Peers’ Tweedisle Chasing Vikings

Maiden Dog (1,1)

Weedall’s Clairevona Venetian Mask

Novice Dog (1,1)

Undrgraduate Dog (2,1)

Parker Tuckers Uniquecottage Rusty Leaf

Postgraduate Dog (6,1)

1.Roberts Cannwood Augurey  Lovely well made cream with a beautiful head, good stop and ear placement.  Lovely shoulders with a good front level topline, good tailset and bend of stifle.  Moved well and showed all out to win the class. RBD

2.Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Bright Colours D/b Lovely head, good neck and topline and good tailset.  Shoulder placement was correct but was carrying weight here which made them look loaded.

3. Ramsden’s Cairngold Sparticus

Limit Dog (2,1)

1.Ward Vanajam Halloween  Wheaten with lovely dark markings which added to his lovely head, good reach of neck, good shoulder placement into level topline and correct tailset. Good bend of stifle.   Held his topline on the move.  Lovely shape and make.  Would have liked more body to finish the picture but he is still young with time to mature.

Open Dog (5,1)

1.Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Loaded Dice.  Silver/brindle.  In full coat stands and looks a picture on the table.  Has a really stunning head which does not disappoint. to go over.  Good stop, correct ears and eyes, good mouth, good reach of neck into well placed shoulders and correct topline and tailset.  Good bend of stifle, moved with that look at me attitude to win the class and Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show.  The heat got to him in the challenge for BOB and he just lost the edge

2.Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Tidy Shoes  Similar in type to one with a lot of the same qualities.  Lovely head, good reach of neck, super shoulder placement into correct topline and good bend of stifle.  Pushed hard as he showed all out to win.  Would just like a little more body to complete the picture.

3.Birch’s Kinkim Wattluq

Special Beginners Dog (1)

1.Davey’s Castleline Game Spirit R/B.  One that was really suffering with the heat and it showed as he was a totally unhappy on the move as he tucked up. Lacked head furnishings, which took from his head.

Minor Puppy Bitch (10,4)

1.Dolans Glenrood Magic Solitaire G/B What a super baby with a truly feminine head with mischief in those eyes: she is full of character with a true Cairn temperament. Lovely neck into good shoulders, level topline, good tailset, nice bend of stifle.  She holds her topline on the move and shows all out.  Certainly made her presence felt in the ring.  Best Puppy.

2.Fairweather’s Ock Dark Truffles. G/B Another with a beautiful head, lovely neck and shoulders and level topline.  Just needs to gain confidence, but another lovely puppy.

3. Harrison & Formosa’s Carradine Miss Embers

Puppy Bitch (7,3)

1.Camerons Stryveling Amadine W/B Beautiful head, good reach of neck, nice shoulders, level topline, good tailset, and a nice size.  She is losing her topline on the move as she is full of puppy exuberance but this should settle with maturity.

2.Harrison & Formasa’s Carradine Echo R/B.  An extrovert puppy with a lovely head, good neck and good topline.  Moved well though front needs to tighten, but still has time to settle.

3.Felters & Rumens Andrum Lemon Meringue

Junior Bitch.  (6,2)

1.Weedall’s Clairevona Victorian Ice R/B beautiful head with a typical Cairn expression.  Good reach of neck, level topline, good tailset, showed non-stop and moved well.  Front a little wayward but should settle with maturity.

2.Brown’s Bencana Magic Moment Lovely head, nice neck and shoulders, good topline, moved well.  Short on coat but a good quality one coming through.

Harrison & Formosa’s Spawyche Forever Amber at Carradine

Maiden Bitch (3)

1.Weedall’s Clairevona Victorian Ice

2.Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Indee Two  G/B What a mischievous lady who gave her handler a run for her money.  Lovely head, nice neck, good shoulder, level topline, good tailset, nice make and shape.  When settled moved okay.

Peers Tweedisle Bewitched at Keybrough

Novice Bitch  (4)

1.Dolan’s Glenrood Dream Pipit  Cream with a lovely head, good neck, nice shoulder placement, good bend of stifle, new coat coming through.  Moved well but loses her topline on the move, but is still a youngster and this could improve when she matures.

2.Parker Tucker Uniquecottage Indee Two

3.Brown Bencana Crystal Clear

Undergraduate Bitch (6,2)

1.Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Celtic Song  W/B Super head with that mischievous look and she is mischievous and full of Cairn devilment: eyes you up as you approach the table to decide whether to behave or not.  When settled she is really lovely to go over. Her head does not disappoint to go over; she has a good stop, correct ear placement and correct eyes, good mouth, good reach of nec, super shoulders into a level topline and good tailset, good bend of stifle, well bodied and muscled, harsh new coat coming through.  Showed on her own and moved with drive.  BIS.  Was not surprised when talking to her owner to discover it was her aunt that I gave BOB to before as they are very similar in type.

2.Moseley’s Spawyche Elizabethan Pearl.  Wheaten, lovely head, good neck, level topline, nice tailset, moved well.  This is another lovely bitch who was unfortunate to meet one who was on top form.

3. Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Cute n Clever

Post Graduate Bitch (5, 3)

1.Moseley’s Spawyche Elizabethan Jade  This is another lovely bitch who pushed hard in the challenge G/B Beautiful head, good stop, good eyes, correct ear placement and good mouth. Nice reach of neck into lovely shoulder placement, good topline and tailset.  Moved well.

2.Turnbull’s Tribannon Destiny of Bedrule  Lost out to 1 on shoulder placement; she is carrying weight which is loading her shoulders.  Lovely head, good neck and topline, moved well and showed well when she chose to.

Limit Bitch (3,2)

1.Dolan’s Glenrood Magic Berry  R/B Lovely head, good stop, nice ear placement and good mouth.  Level topline, good tailset and good muscle tone.  Moved okay but needs to tighten in front.

Open Bitch (7,3)

1.Ward’s Vanajam Trick A Treat W/B Beautiful head, good reach of neck into good shoulder placement, nice topline and tailset, lovely outline and moved well. Another who pushed hard for best bitch.  Needs to mature and body up to complete the picture but is still a youngster.  RBB

2.Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Here to Stay  G/B A close decision.  Lovely head, good eyes, nice stop and good ear placement.  Good topline and tailset.  Lost out to 1 on movement.

3.Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Solar Corona

Special Beginners Bitch (2)

1.Fairwaeather’s Ock Enchanted Shadow Wheaten 6-1/2 in full coat with too much on top which ruined her topline.  Lovely head, good eyes and ear placement.  She just lost interest and was not willing to show today.

2.Purvis’s Wilsummer Sea Lavender  The heat certainly affected this lady who was totally unhappy .  Good head, good ear placement, good eyes and coat but she just did not want to be here.
