Main Points Arising from the Minutes of the Midland Cairn Terrier Club’s 73rd Committee Meeting held at Ashfield Play Care Scheme,

Sutton in Ashfield, Notts on Saturday 25th January 2003

 

Mr Watson, President welcomed all to the meeting.  Mrs Formosa and Mrs Wall were unavoidably absent.

 

Election of Chairman, Vice Chairman & Cup Stewards

Mr Bob Croyman was elected as Chairman for 2003 with Mrs Leone Spence Vice Chairman.  Mrs Pam Bambridge would continue as Cup Steward with Mrs Dawn Formosa as Assistant.

 

Cups & Trophies

It was reported that the Quartache Trophy had been replaced and the Thimswarra Trophy donated by the Arrowsmith family in memory of the late Mr Alf Arrowsmith had been engraved at the Club’s expense.  It was decided to offer cups, which were to be won outright, to our 3 Best in Show winners.

 

Correspondence

Letters of thanks had been sent to the following members acknowledging donations to the Club – Mrs Mortlock, Mrs Harrison, Mrs Tutchings and Mrs Ellis.

 

Minutes of the K C L C’s meeting 28 November 2002 were read to the committee.

 

The committee was sorry to learn that Miss Whittaker and Mrs Foster would not be renewing their membership in 2003.  Mrs Gunson had written thanking the Club for the gifts received which marked her resignation from the committee.

 

Finances

The Treasurer reported that the draft financial accounts of the Club for the year ended 31 December 2002 indicated a break even position.

 

Club Web Site

The Club web site was reviewed.  A vote of thanks was given to Miss Shannon for all her hard work on the site.  At the moment the site was averaging 22 hits per day and the web counter showed a genuine count.  It was agreed that all photographs sent in for the Year Book would be reproduced, if appropriate, in colour on the web site.  Furthermore a Club competition for Top Cairn, Top Sire, Top Dam & Top Puppy of 2003 would be introduced, the results of the league tables being updated constantly on the web site.

 

Reviews

The December 2002 Championship show was reviewed – Mr Croyman reported that the shovel in the Exercise Area had been stolen during the day!!!  It was agreed to replace this at the Club’s expense!!  It was agreed that the Club Dinner has been most enjoyable although it had been necessary to bring  some matters to the attention of the Renaissance management.

 

Judging Matters

The minutes of the Judges Working Party meeting held in November 2002 were read to the committee.  A brief discussion regarding protected affixes took place.

 

Future Arrangements

Final arrangements for the March 2003 Open Show & AGM were discussed.  All committee members present at the meeting agreed to donate something which would be used to raise funds at all shows up to and including August 2004.  The funds would be allocated to the December 2005 Championship Show to celebrate the 25 years of the Club existence.  Provisional arrangements for the August 2003 Open show were made and it was agreed that there would be 2 Junior Handling classes within the classification.

 

The theme for December 2003 was discussed and it was agreed that the 2003 Dinner would be “An Evening in Cairnelot (Camelot) !”  Medieval dress would be optional.  Provisional arrangements for the Championship Show were made.

 

August 2005 Judge

The committee chose a judge for the August 2005 Open Show.

 

The next committee meeting was scheduled for Sunday 1 June 2003 at 10.30am.
