POP IDOL – THE SEQUAL

Amy and I travelled up to Manchester again on 1 July for the second round of pop idol.  The time for the audition was 1pm and there must have been another 60 hopefuls waiting.  Amy was called in to audition before the producers and again she got through.  About 10 were successful so we were very pleased.  We then had to wait until 4pm for Amy to give another audition before the celebrity panel, who were Nicky Chapman, Nigel Fox, Pete Waterman and last but by no means least, Simon Cowell.  News was not so good this time, the panel lived up to their reputation, particularly Mr Cowell who was not very pleasant at all.  We only saw one successful girl from the 60 who auditioned.  She will be in the last 100 who go forward to the next round in London.

Amy was disappointed but more angry than anything about the comments Mr Cowell had made.  She was filmed and might be on TV at some time or other. (She is hoping not!!).  This was another of those experiences that seem a good idea at the time but it has made Amy more determined than ever to succeed, if only to prove Mr Cowell wrong!

One good thing about the day was that we met Ant & Dec who are exactly the same in real life as they are on the TV.
