The Funeral of Mr Ron H. Birch

Tuesday 10 February 2004 at 2pm at Shrewsbury Crematorium

Today many family and friends attended the funeral of Cairn Terrier enthusiast Ron Birch.

During the service son Ian spoke bravely about his memories of the early Kinkims.  He made the congregation both smile and cry with some of his stories.  He said that when his father appeared on television with Ch Kinkim Ludvic after winning the Terrier Group at Crufts, he felt that his parents had reached the pinnacle of their “Cairn career” and referred to them as the David and Victoria Beckham of the Cairn world.  Apparently there was pandemonium in the Birch household when a Yorkie took the Supreme Champion award instead of Ludvic!

Ian said that the offers of help and the messages of sympathy the family had received had helped them all cope with Ron’s sudden death.  He said that the family were touched by the words in some of the messages, which just went to show how highly thought of and well respected his father was.  Ian, on behalf of Brenda, thanked all for attending the service.

The congregation included many Cairn Terrier friends from all over the country. Many had travelled long distances. This showed how much we all thought of Ron and we shall miss him dearly.  I am sure that all Cairnites will wish to join with me in thinking of Brenda and family at this very sad time.
