It was a privilege to be invited to judge our lovely breed in Denmark.

On arrival the weather was damp and misty but a warm welcome awaited us.

The hospitality bestowed upon us was first class. My fellow judges came from Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Spain so it was a good learning experience exchanging views and opinions, luckily everyone conversed in English.

On the day of the show the sports centre was just a short walk from the hotel. I had a hall to myself with a spacious ring. My ring steward and secretary were first class and ensured I carried out my duties correctly.

I had an entry of 69 dogs of excellent type and quality. I was pleased by the overall standard, impressive heads, good conformation and strong profiles. Mouths were excellent, correct scissor bites with large teeth. I saw top quality double coats of good texture. Sound movement, and all were well presented and were of excellent temperament.

My main winners were of the highest standard. Best dog, BOB & Best Terrier in show was DKCH Cale Hills Norman, he excelled in breed type, a masculine head with the desired cairn expression, conformed well to the standard. He presented a lovely profile, both moving and standing. He had quality double coat, with movement sound and true. Expertly handled and presented, he gave a good account of himself. I was thrilled to see him attain top honour on the day.

BOS Zalazar On Parade, which she certainly was, on her toes showing off her many virtues. She had an exquisite feminine head with a wicked eye and wistful expression, nicely put together, moved well maintaining her outline. In tip top show condition and handled to perfection. Today she won her second CC. I am sure her title will be attained soon.

Both lovely Cairns.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Danish Experience’, and although I was apprehensive at first the exhibitors put me at my ease with their smiles and sportsmanlike attitudes.  Thank you all for allowing me to ‘go over’ your lovely Cairns.
