‘EVIE’ THE
BESTEST LITTLE PAL IN THE WORLD Steve and I
would like to thank everyone for their efforts to find ‘Evie’, especially Roy
and Doreen and the doglost team. The posters did work in the end, even
though it was not the outcome we wanted, at least now we know where she is,
at home in the garden where she loved to play and was last seen tossing a
fallen apple in the air then pouncing on it! Evie was not just a beautiful show dog
to us, that was just a bonus; she was a beautiful person, so full of life and
energy but so incredibly loving too. Some might know ‘Evie’ by her nickname
‘Evil’(short for ‘Evil Knievel’) this was because when she was a puppy, she
would fly around our living room, leaping from one sofa to the next, clearing
the coffee table in between, she would regularly raid my handbag and has
chewed various items including spectacles address books wallets and purses
and would often raid the car, just in case one of us had left half a sandwich
or some crisps in the screwed up wrapper! But it didn’t matter how naughty
she was, all she had to do was look at us with those beautiful sparkly eyes
of hers and all was forgiven, I still have my address book with her teeth
marks in, we’d say it’s ‘been eviled’! Whenever I sat down she was always by
my side, with her head on my lap. She slept on our bed at night; always lying
between us (sometimes with her head on the pillow!) she was almost human
somehow. Extra special dogs like ‘Evie’ don’t
come along very often, and quite often don’t stay long either, but they touch
our lives in such a way, it’s hard to describe. Our time with ‘Evie’ was such
a special time, and our memories will be with us forever. As I write this the
tears are streaming down my face, it’s just so hard, so please
understand when I ask you next time you see me not to speak about ‘Evie’. I would like to thank all of you for your
messages of support when ‘Evie’ went missing and your subsequent messages of
sympathy. I would especially like to say a big thank-you to my friends Angie
and Graham, Lynda and Sherree without their support these last couple of
weeks I don’t know what I would have done. Liz & Steve |
