Found Cairn - Updated

A year to eighteen months, entire wheaten dog Cairn has been handed into a vets in Croydon.  Lovely nature, not reliably house trained.  Dew claws on front legs.  He was found yesterday near Banstead woods. We am trying to get him handed over to CTRF but red tape might mean he goes to the Reigate dog warden.

The dog warden at Reigate has now re-homed the Cairn Terrier, who is believed to be around 10 months old.  Both Chris Hewitt and myself have made numerous calls to Reigate Council and have left messages for the Dog Warden to contact the C.T.R.F since this was reported to us, but to no avail until today when she contacted Chris Hewitt.

Unfortunately the Dog Warden would not release the Cairn to the C.T.R.F and declined their help, however she did make a note of Chris's telephone number for future reference. She informed Chris  that she had a home for the Cairn, who is believed to have strayed from a 'travellers' encampment sometime last week.

We understand that the family who are re-homing him have not owned a Cairn Terrier before, so help has been offered during the settling in process, as he is not yet house trained!!  The Dog Warden admitted that this isn't the first Cairn that had come from the encampment and that she had dealt with several 'stray' Cairn x Border Terriers in the past.

Hopefully this little chap will settle in  his new home without too many problems.
