Leone Spence
The funeral took place on Friday 28th April at the beautiful East Riding Crematorium at 12 noon.
Husband John, daughter Nicola, son Stephen and their families joined friends of Leone to say their final farewell.
Cairnites present included Catherine & Robin Butterfield, Alan, Linda & Amy Firth, Alison Wragg, Monica Ball, Jack & Shirley Watson, Ann Wall, Maud Hawkes, Alan Stephinson, Jean Hudson, Jean Shearsmith, Jackie Bradshaw, Jo Tester, Norma Newton, Milly & Alf Jennings, Brenda Shannon and Bob & Yvonne Croyman.
During the service the priest spoke of Leone’s devotion to her husband of 50 years and how proud she was of her family’s achievements. Leone’s involvement in the Cairn world was mentioned and the priest also said how delighted and honoured she was to have the office of Patron of the Midland CTC bestowed upon her last December.
We shall all remember Leone’s contribution to the world of Cairns and I, for one, am proud to have known such a lovely lady.
