Judges In California

I have been having a lovely time in America where, on June 23rd,  I judged the Cairn Terrier Club of California’s Specialty Show in the setting of the beautiful El Dorado Park in Long Beach.  Winners Dog, Best of Winners & BOB went to Zalazar On The Road, (Ch Birselaw Billy Fury x Ch Xalazar Zulu Magic), owned by Suzee Bidegain and bred by Mette Sorum. I understand that this made him up on the day.  Reserve Winners Dog was a cream male only just over 12 months of age, again bred by Suzee Bidegain but owned by Suzee and Karen Smith.  He was by Ch Robinson Crusoe Quite Macho x Ch Threstrup’s Female.

Winners Bitch was Suzee Bidegain and John Jensen’s Frigg’s Prinsesse Pepita (Ch Zalazar Jackpot x Cadagio Singha Gold.  Reserve Winners Bitch was Susan Vertz Millward’s Andrum Love Everlasting (Croyanda Cotton Spinner x Andrum Spirit of Love), bred by Robert Fyfe.

There were 14 entered in the BOB competition.  The Winners dog, Winners Bitch and the veterans join the 14 to compete for BOB. I always think that it is unfair to only have one winner here, my Reserve BOB, if there had been such an award would have had to be John & Barbara Kornylo’s Ch Thistlegate Nordic Silver (CH Tribuns Ralph Lauren x Ch Cairngold Quicksilver).  The following day at the Great Western Show he went BOB and got a Group 4 placing for BIS.

It was very hot and the dogs suffered in the heat.  Jack and Karen Smith (Redcoat) had done an excellent job in organising the shows and there were so many specials on offer I lost count.

I was not the only member of the Firth family who judged on that day, Alan, Amy and boyfriend Alec judged the Costume contest, they enjoyed themselves.
