Working Cairn Terrier Plea

The Midland has received the following request from a James Reed;

I am working on a natural history documentary about the evolution and domestication of dogs. We are trying to illustrate how various breeds have had a profound affect on how humans have lived their lives all over the world. We have done sled dogs in the arctic and Saluki dogs in Jordan and we would like to do a story about the Cairn Terrier and the impact it would have had on farmers and communities in Britain that would have been troubled by rats eating and contaminating their food and bringing infection and disease. The significance of this role historically is clear but what we would like to do (as we have with the other breeds) is find someone who is still using Cairn terriers in their traditional role now. I know it will be rare but I thought their might be someone who still depends on these dogs for ratting to a degree – this will give us a vehicle to talk about the dogs important role in the past.
