On September 19 Dorothy
Lee Blackwood died peacefully at a hospice house near her home in Annapolis,
Maryland, U.S.A. In the early 1970s she and her husband Frank lived in
England. They bought a Blencathra bitch and a Felshott dog (Copper
Coin) and exhibited the dog at several shows before moving back to the States
where he acquired his Championship. Together with her great friend
Lydia Hutchinson she often came over to Crufts and a number of the Cairn
Clubs' Championship shows. Indeed she was at the C.T.C.'s Centenary
shows in April, though well over 90 years old. She loved Cairn
Terriers; her pride and joy was Ch. Cairnhoe Highlander of Wolfpit that won
Best of Breed at Westminster and C.T.C.A. in 2003. He will be shown as
a Veteran at the C.T.C.A. events October 9-10 as a tribute to her. She
was a lovely lady who was a pleasure to know, and she lived a long life
enjoyed to the full. |
