Yesterday after Crufts judging we left hall 2
of the NEC at about 5pm. We headed
for the West Car park. Our journey back
to Yorkshire is usually just under 2 hours. As we walked to our car we passed
a couple of Cairn Exhibitors queuing to get out, Graeme Currie then a few
cars behind Jacky Bradshaw, both saying how long they had been there and
there seemed to be a hold up of some sort. After
queuing for 90 minutes ourselves we pulled over, parked the car, Danny took
the dogs for a walk and we picnicked on our remaining sandwiches and drinks.
( I always take too much) at 8:30pm traffic began to move - albeit slowly. We
ended up on the M6 as it was still bad getting onto the M42. We arrived home
at 11pm! At no time did we see any car park officials or
anyone of authority to give any help to alleviate the situation. There was
talk of the traffic lights sticking and a break down. As we left the car park
the barriers were up and the kiosk boarded up. As a lot of folks travel a long way it must have
been dreadful for some. We counted ourselves lucky as we had food and drink
and the knowledge our other dogs were being cared for at home!! Brenda |
Others affected and very late home were; Sue Braybrook,
11:30pm. Sue Kinton, After 1am. Carol Confue & co 1.15am. Jeanette Smith
not only stuck 3.5 hours in car park…. Then found M6 North closed and after a very
long diversion she eventually arrived home at 3am!
Vanessa Byrne only lives
18miles from the NEC and arrived home at 10:15pm! Her husband Tony phoned the NEC for
information was put through to car parks to be given no information apart from
the car park is busy and then he was 'cut off.'
She say's that she is going to look at the train as an option from now on.
