Presentation and Toast

In appreciation of the long service given to the Club by both Mary Towers and Ferelith Somerfield who have now retired from the SCTC Committee.

The Clubs Committee, Officers and Members decided that there should be a Presentation and Toast given in their honour at the SCTCs Championship Show which was held on the 5th February, 2017 at Bracknell Leisure Centre.

It is excellent news that this is not the end of their attachment to the Club, as they were invited to be Patrons of the SCTC and the invitation has been accepted by both.

A Shared Conclusion

Retiring from SCTC Committee and Office couldn’t have been a lightly made decision by either Ferelith Somerfield or Mary Towers; the number of years that they have given to the Club would have had a very strong hold on their minds before they finally reached a conclusion.

Mary had been a Club Member for a number of years before her name was put forward for the post of Club Secretary and its members voted her into office. Twenty-three years is a long time, whether it goes slowly or quickly, and Mary has served the Club faithfully for all of those years. One cannot get too much of a good thing and so she once again became a Committee Member, before finding herself in the position of Honorary Vice President. Also, Mary was a Committee Member of the UK Cairn Terrier Working Party and a championship show judge.

Feffie first qualified to judge Cairns and award CCs in 1963. Later, due to experience gained as a breeder in several breed of dogs, then went on to award CCs to 139 different breeds. After having judged dogs, world-wide, and being a highly respected judge; she was offered and accepted the invitation to judge Best in Show at Crufts. Feffie has served the Southern Cairn Terrier Club well over the years, both in an advisory position and being its Breed Representative at the Kennel Club. Feffie has also held post as President of the SCTC and after serving her term in office, was made a Honorary Vice President.

A Message From Mary

Mary would like to send a Big Thank You to all Cairnites whose  generosity made her presentation at The Southern Cairn Terrier Club Championship Show on the 5th February such a memorable day, one she will always treasure in years to come.

 Message from Feffie

Feffie says thank you to all who made her send off one to remember.  She enjoyed her day at the SCTC Championship show, chatting to old friends.  She feels honoured to have served the club for so many years and delighted to accept the post of Patron.
