The FCI World Dog Show was held in Leipzig,
Germany, from Wednesday 8 November until Sunday 12 November 2017, in the Leipziger
Messe. The first day there was the German Winner Show for Cairn Terriers. The
second day a Terrier Speciality was held at a different venue. On Friday, 10 November, the Cairn Terrier Club of
Germany organised a Meet and Greet at the Ramada H4 Hotel, followed by a
presentation of Vet Dr Carola Möhrke from Dortmund. Dr Möhrke discussed
opportunities of artificial insemenation highlighting pros ans cons. She also
presented infertility problems of the stud dog and the brood bitch including
tests that can assist breeding management. The evening was concluded by a
buffet diner. There were between 50 and 60 participants who had a great time.
On Saturday 11 November Cairn Terriers were due for
the World Show. There was an entry of 142 Cairns. Participants travelled as
far as from Germany, The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland,
Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, the Czec Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, the
Ukraine and Russia. Among foreign visitors were Liz Scougal, Sheila Guenther
Bremaud and Merril Schmitt from Canada, Cathy Scotton from Australia and
Alberto Tartari from Italy together with Antonella Ravera and her husband. Mr
Luis Catalan from Portugal judged veteran -, puppy - and junior classes. Mr
Bojan Matakovic from Croatia judged intermediate -, champion – and open
classes. Their winners for the final challenge were: Mathari’s Saliva’s 3 Coins In The
Fountain, BOB and Dog World Winner (Denmark) After judging the Cairn Terrier Club
of Germany organised an after party with drinks and food, which was
appreciated by all! Throughout these four days the German Cairnites made us
