Funeral

July 1pm at Woodvale Crematorium South Chapel
Brighton. Donations to Dog
trust or flowers will be accepted. If you wish to attend please let Sharon
Confue know. Sharon Confue has
kindly let me know of the passing of Bill Cammish, of the well
known Camcairn affix. I was so sorry to hear this but I know that
Bill had not enjoyed the best of health for some time and we had not seen him
around the ring for a few years. He
lost his partner Jim Williams, some time ago and I know he missed him
greatly. For many years Bill ran a very successful
and somewhat exclusive boarding kennels and cattery. He was a lovely man, never one to be afraid
of speaking his mind but at the same time very friendly and knowledgeable. Bill was very active in the breed in the seventies,
eighties and nineties and showed some lovely Cairns. He was a great friend of Joan Harding (Brucairns). My
records show that his first Champion under the Camcairn
affix was Ch Charlotte of Camcairn who he made up
in 1973. That same year he also made
up Ch Felshott Tulloch who he bought from Misses
Hall and Wilson. He bred five more
Champions, the last in 1989, Ch Camcairn Dorabella. Bill was very much in demand as a judge,
both at home and overseas. He judged
in Canada, America, Australia and most of Europe. He was a most respected judge and his
decisions were always fair. One thing
I remember about Bill and that was that he liked a good carrot shaped tail on
a Cairn! Over the years he has told me
several tales of his judging experiences whilst travelling with his
companions, Ann Waugh and Carole, Sharon and Fred Confue. Some of them were very funny. I know that he was terribly upset when
Carole died, they had been such great friends. His last appointment in the UK was when he
judged the North of Ireland Cairn Terrier Club show in 2015. He made Pete and Julie Owen's Caldwall Call
the Shots BIS and Yvonne Catto's Ch Birselaw The Thrill Of It All, Reserve
BIS. Another of Bill's hobbies was bridge; he
was a bridge master and he also liked the opera. I have seen a lovely photo of Bill with a
bridge partner taken after winning a trophy. We shall miss you Bill, we had some great
times at Builth, lovely memories. Condolences to his family and his close
friends. |
