Jean Hudson I was so sorry to
learn of the death of Jean Hudson (Clanranald), who
passed away on 20 January. She was 93 years old and died in hospital. Jean
had been in a care home since November following a serious operation the
previous August. Jean
was a well respected breeder and judge of our
breed. My records show that her first
Champion was Ch Clanranald Laetare,
winning 3 CC’s, made up in 1980, then followed Ch Clanranald
Tam O’Shanter, winning 5 CC’s, in 1982. Ch Clanranald
Foxy Lady won 3 CC’s and was made up in 1986, Ch Clanranald Highland Fling won 3 CC’s and was made up in
1987. Ch Clanranald
Foxtrot was Jean’s final champion, made up in 1988, winning 3 CC’s. I
think Jean’s last appointment was as referee at the Southern Cairn Terrier
Club’s Centenary show in May 2014 where she chose the dog, Yvonne Catto’s Ch
Birselaw The Thrill of It All for Best in Show. I believe I am correct in saying that her
last sole appointment was Three Counties in 2006. Unfortunately
at the time of her death, Jean had no family but she did have many friends in
the local Catholic church. I
do know that Jean kept in touch with the Secretaries of the breed clubs where
she was a member and I am pleased to say that she was one of the few who
always paid her subs on time. I
always got on with Jean very well, she was straight and down to earth and I
liked her a lot. She will be missed. The
funeral has been arranged for Thursday 8th February at 10am at St. Joseph’s
Roman Catholic Church, 1 Greylands Park Grove,
Newby, Scarborough, YO12 6HR, followed by a cremation at Scarborough
Crematorium at 11am. Jean has requested that instead of sending flowers,
friends can make memorial gifts to Marie Curie or MacMillan Nurses. Linda
