Judge Alf Jennings Critique.

This is always a friendly show with a real festive atmosphere. One of the exhibitors summed it up for me, her Christmas always starts here. Judges have to be booked so far in advance now and as I am coming up 75, this seemed the right time to call it a day and retire from judging whilst still totally “withit”. A club show in my view being the best way to finish.

I thank all of the exhibitors for the wonderful entry, my three excellent stewards and the Midland Club for a very happy day.

With just a few exceptions all the dogs being shown had good formation close to the standard and most performed well.

A few things that I feel need to be aired. I had quite a number of dogs/bitches that while the bite was right the front six teeth in the bottom jaw were crowded due to being narrow. Some front feet were not the typical thick pads but quite ferrety. I also had a couple of light eyes. Having commented on these errors overall I can say that Cairns in general are looking good.
