This
was my first appointment awarding CC’s.
I had a fantastic time and many, many thanks to the NICTC for their
wonderful hospitality. The Cairns. Quality was not consistent. I will mention that this is a dog show and
they should be clean and smell free.
Dogs - on average dogs were not of the same quality of bitches. My CC & RCC dog were both, having said
that, out of the top drawer. Two very
outstanding young Cairns. One asks what
they will be like at maturity. Bitches
– I was spoilt for choice and in Limit Bitch would have liked more firsts. I kept three bitches in the final line up
for the CC and was delighted with the extra special quality of all three. I like my Cairns to be well covered but some
were very overweight which long-term can spoil front action. I was disappointed with movement and believe
this was because some exhibits lacked depth of rib and/or were too long in the
loin. If the ribs are too round or
shallow the front action will paddle and/or wobble as there is nothing between the
shoulder blades/upper arm to attach to and therefore firm up the movement. Any propulsion produced by the rear end will be lost in an overlong loin. I was very pleased with my two final
line-ups and felt they were typy. Thank
you.
Minor Puppy Dog
1 st Peers’ Tweedisle Celtic
Chief
A smart wheaten brindle youngster, stood alone. Masculine head, correct length of neck
flowing into well placed shoulders and onto a level topline, which was
disguised by his large jacket. Needs to
settle but has time. A promising pup.
Puppy Dog
1 st Braybrook’s
Cloverbrook Loaded Dice
Very exciting dark brindle 11 mth pup. Well up to size. Can throw his front at times but I could not overlook his overall
depth of quality. Wonderful head and
expression with the best of eyes, just the right shape and colour. Masculine throughout. Correctly made rear, which drives him around
the ring. Beautifully balanced. The spit of my own Hot Potato. One
to watch for the future.
2 nd Templeton’s
Larchlea if Looks Could Kill
Similar size to one but could not match his overall
balance, just a little long. Movement
could be more positive but has time on his side. Excellent quality coat, a little short at present but most
beautiful colour. Excelling in mouth,
lovely big teeth.
3 rd Pratt’s Cadagio Looks
Like Trouble at Terrijay
Junior Dog
1st Catto’s Bireslaw Billy Fury
Caught my eye when he entered the ring with his super
smart outline. Profuse coat so well presented.
Typical head with correct length of foreface and strong jaw. Good bite and sized teeth. Correct length of neck flowing into well
placed shoulders and along a firm topline into a correct set tail. Well-muscled rear. To complete the picture, on my hunt for perfection, I would like
a little more width throughout, but at only 16
months he has time to fill out.
An beautiful dog whom I could not take my eyes off.
2 nd Mears’ Glenmear Malroy
Bright red male, feeling very full of himself. Masculine and well made throughout. When he eventually settled he moved
satisfactorily
3 rd Forbes’ Marsh Stewart Charles
Novice Dog
1 st Dean’s
Orior Sea Rover
Best Novice, Best Novice Owned & Bred by Resident in
Ireland/Best Irish Bred Puppy
Wheaten brindle dog with smart outline which he kept on
the move, Presented in good coat and
condition.
2 nd Burton’s Minorcas Hello my Love
Unfortunately not showing much interest in proceedings.
Post Graduate Dog
1 st Ough’s Ocedar Blue
Moon
He was a bit unsettled to start but has a lot to like
about him, everything is where it should be.
Masculine throughout but would benefit from enhanced presentation.
2 nd Burton’s Minorcas Whisky Again
Very showy and alert.
Good dark eye.
Limit Dog
1 st Parker
Tucker’s Uniquecottage Tidy Shoes
No mistaking this one for a boy. Just had the edge in overall balance over
2. Slightly short of coat which let him
down in the challenge. Good head and
eye. Strong well made rear that just
propelled him round the ring. Extra
alert and showy.
2 nd Brown’s Cloverbrook Talk of the Town
Shame he had to meet 1 today who had the edge in
balance. This boy is longer cast but
nevertheless a lovely chap. Beautiful
head. Presented and handled well. Certainly
a lot to like about him, nothing exaggerated. Should do well.
3 rd Murray’s Amorset Scooter
Open Dog
1 st Hogarty’s
Ir Ch Cadagio Talk of the Town
Best Open, Best Exhibit Resident in Ireland, Best Exhibit Bred
in Ireland
Of smaller frame than I would prefer but could not
find fault with his construction. Moved well. All in proportion for his size right for balance and excelling
in head with beautiful dark points. A
very good dog.
2 nd Cameron’s Ch Stryveling Ivanhoe
A worthy champion.
Presented in good coat and condition.
Has good head properties but his slightly fairer eye colour detracted
from his overall expression. Has good
length of neck and well-placed shoulders is slightly longer in loin than I
would prefer. Showed steadily.
3 rd Brown’s Cloverbrook Talk of the Town
Veteran Dog or Bitch
1 st Parker
Tucker’s Ch&Am Ch Uniquecottage Bright Gold
8 yrs old.
Exquisitely constructed bright red male. Powered round the ring.
Excelling in head properties.
Lovely coat and presentation.
Youth had the edge today in the challenge for CC. A very worthy
champion.
2 nd Hogarty’s Ir Ch Larchlea
Unchained Medoly of Cadagio
7˝ yr old bitch.
Moved well. Good head with the
most attractive mature grey colouring.
A pleasure to go over. Again a worthy champion.
3 rd Ough’s Ocedar Sunset
Sp Beginners Dog
1 st Ough’s
Ocedar Sunset
Minor Puppy Bitch
1 st Peers’
Tweedisle Sultry Sue
Feminine wheaten brindle baby. Enjoying her trip out. Everything where it should be which won
her BPB. Movement has time to settle,
lovely dark eye, good bone and plenty of depth of rib. A promising puppy
2 nd Burton’s Minorcas I'm Sweet
Well grown pup.
Full of personality. Sporting a
profuse coat. Nicely made throughout.
3 rd Coulter’s Craigycor Red Pepper
Puppy Bitch
1 st Templeton’s Larchlea
Looks Like Heaven
Stood out in this class.
Busy, showy dark brindle. Very
well presented. Would have liked more
depth of rib. Just not as well made as
the minor puppy bitch and lost out to her in challenge for Best Puppy Bitch
2 nd Magee’s Orior Lady Laura
Feminine puppy but quite shy today. Needs to develop a rapport with her handler.
3 rd Burton’s Minorcas Sure to please
Junior Bitch
1 st Shaw’s
Honeyhall Headway
Absolutely beautiful bitch. Caught my eye when entering the ring. Close up to her older sister for RCC. Has a beautiful head with correct expression. Slightly straight in shoulder, which showed
when she moved. Full of personality.
2 nd Peers’ Sancris Birthday Girl
A pleasant bitch to go over, just needs to settle. Feminine throughout.
3 rd Cameron’s Stryveling Tusitala
1 st Alexander:
Princess of Tops and Tails
Good for size, moved well, placed 4th in
Junior. Careful handling would enhance
an agreeable bitch.
Novice Bitch
1 st Ough’s
Ocedar Sunlight
An average bitch to go over, slightly long in
foreface. Rear movement was sound and
she carried a good quality coat. Very
showy.
2 nd Burton’s Minorcas Poppiea Girl
Enjoying her day out, showed steadily
Graduate Bitch
1 st Munday’s
Stradivarius Sonata
An enchanting bitch whose quality is hidden under a heavy
coat. Going over her she made the hairs
stand up on the back of my neck. Full
of breed type from the tip of her nose to the top of her tail. Nothing overdone and almost everything I
want in a Cairn. A real cracker. Gorgeous head, well made front and rear, good
depth of rib and length of loin and this showed in her ultra sound
movement. Showed consistently. The complete package.
2 nd Dean’s Orior Pirate Queen
Smaller in type than 1.
Sound mover but head not entirley feminine.
3 rd Mears’ Stanedykes Mirren
Post-Graduate Bitch
1 st Munday’s
Stradivarius Scots Suite
Litter sister to CC.
Slightly straight in her angultions.
A quality bitch. Excellent head,
good topline but tailset a bit
high. Ultra showy.
2 nd Burton’s Minorcas Snow Queen
A bitch of quality but not presented to show it off.
Limit Bitch
1 st Shaw’s
Honeyhall Hilight
Another one out of the top drawer. Litter sister to Junior. Preferred this bitches overall balance and
movement. Beautiful head with well
placed shoulders flowing into her topline to a correctly set tail. Good depth of rib and length of loin. Very well made throughout. A smashing bitch

Open Bitch
1 st Keenan’s

carrying too much weight. A shame as
she is full of quality.
2 nd Birch’s Kimkim Quanta Ruffn
Good sized red bitch.
Balanced throughout. Moved
soundly fore and aft. Good quality coat
if a little short. 4th in limit.
